A 9-year-old Tennessee boy was very concerned that President Donald Trump didn’t take a salary and decided to help Trump.
“I thought, how is he going to eat or drink,” Eli’sha Davies told WBIR. “Or, you know, pay, if he needs to pay his water bill or anything.”
Eli’sha then told his mother that he wanted to send Trump some money.
“My first impression was like, ‘You’re going to give your money away again,’ cause he’s been trying to save it up for a mandolin,” Melissa told WBIR. “But at the same time, I was like, I don’t want to discourage his generosity, and I think it’s sweet.”
Now, watch the incredible video below.
“One of the best aspects of my job as President is hearing from young Americans like you, and I am grateful for your and your family’s prayers,” Trump wrote right back.
Trump sent an autographed picture of him and Vice President Mike Pence in the oval office and sent back Eli’sha’s $3.
Eli’sha asked what would happen to the money. He said he’s going “to ptu some serious thought into it.”
“Well, I just want to be a blessing to everyone,” he added.
The surprises didn’t stop there. His mother then revealed that her son had been saving for a mandolin for a year.
“Eli’sha has a big heart,” she explained. “He’s very conscientious and empathetic. I just hope that never changes.”
If you didn’t know, Trump is supposed to get a $400,000 per year salary, but Trump has pledged to forgo the salary. He donated $78,000 to the National Park Service. He then gave his second quarter’s salary for $100,000 to the Department of Education for a summer camp.
