Liberals in Chicago, Illinois have put in place some of the strictest gun laws in the country in place there. However, this has done nothing to lower the gun crime rate in the mid-western city. Instead, Chicago has one of the highest murder rates in the nation.

This was proven once again over the weekend, when six people were killed and 27 were injured in shootings across Chicago within a 13 hour period between Saturday and Sunday.

The Chicago Tribune reported that one man was killed and six were injured in a single shooting in the West Pullman neighborhood that took place at around 2:30am on Sunday in the parking lot of a banquet hall that was being used as a nightclub. A man inside a black SUV opened fire on the crowd before fleeing the scene. One man was declared dead at the scene and no information about him is available at this time. In addition, a 30-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and a 33-year-old woman were each shot in the leg. Police said a 32-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, a 31-year-old woman was shot in the left leg, and a 36-year-old man was shot in the buttocks.

The most recent fatal shooting occurred at around 5:10am in the Brighton Park neighborhood, where a 30 year-old man was shot dead as he stopped at a traffic light. A vehicle approached and opened fire, hitting him in the head, neck, and arm. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A 32 year-old man was fatally shot at around 4:30am on Sunday as he stood on a sidewalk in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Someone in a Ford SUV opened fire on him and injured two others as well.

This is just a small taste of the violence that plagues Chicago every day. Clearly, stricter gun control laws are NOT the answer to lowering gun crime rates!
