Moments ago it was revealed that Reince Priebus has resigned as Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff.
Politico reported that Trump is replacing him with Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly.
“I am pleased to inform you that I have just named General/Secretary John F Kelly as White House Chief of Staff. He is a Great American and a Great Leader. John has also done a spectacular job at Homeland Security. He has been a true star of my Administration,” Trump wrote. “I would like to thank Reince Priebus for his service and dedication to his country. We accomplished a lot together and I am proud of him!”
The decision comes after a week of drama in the White House with the appointment of Anthony Scaramucci as the Communications Director. Priebus was not happy with Scaramucci’s appointment from the beginning. The drama only got worse when Scaramucci publicly outed Priebus as the White House leaker.
The firing of Priebus seems to suggest that Trump agrees that Priebus is indeed the leaker.
This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
