This Wednesday morning, a tragic shooting incident took place which shook the whole nation. During the assault, several Republican congressmen were wounded while they were practicing for a charity baseball match, including Rep. Steve Scalise and Lobbyman Matt Mika.

Until now, the focus had been put on Steve Scalise, who according to reports, is currently at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and remains in critical condition. The doctors stated that this Thursday morning, Scalise underwent his third operation, right after it had been reported that he had apparently lost a lot of blood from the gunshot wound and that the bullet fractured some of his bones.

This unfortunate event caused President Trump to drop all of his birthday plans and celebrations and immediately head to visit Scalise. President Trump said today that Scalise is “in some trouble” but that he is a “great fighter” and that he won’t give up easily.

Unfortunately, the bad news don’t end there, as an updated statement had been released from the family of Lobbyist Matt Mika, claiming that he is still in critical condition. Mika had also been shot several times in the arms and chest and had suffered massive trauma.

His family pointed out that they are grateful for the care Mika has received from the first responders in the field, to the world-class care at the hospital. In their statement, they thanked and praised the “amazing individuals” who helped save his life, as well as the Capitol Police for their “heroic actions to stop the shooter before he could hurt even more people.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
